welcome to New Leaf

A Place to Exhale

Being human is complex - and healing should make room for all that we are.

New Leaf brings together deep clinical experience, evidence-based psychotherapy, and restorative and integrative approaches to create care that is both highly skilled and deeply human.

Here, therapy moves beyond conversation alone. Grounded in science and shaped by genuine connection, we draw from a range of approaches that engage the mind, body, experience, and environment - creating more ways to access meaningful and lasting change.

Healing isn't about becoming someone new. It's about returning to yourself-- with greater freedom in how you live, relate, and move through the world.

Hi, I’m Sarah.

I created New Leaf Counseling & Wellness Services because I believe healing happens when people feel safe, deeply understood, and able to show up as their whole selves.

For more than two decades, I have walked alongside people navigating some of life's most difficult moments. Along the way, I have learned that none of us can be understood by a single chapter of our lives, the worst thing that has happened to us, the worst thing we've done, a diagnosis, an addiction, a trauma history, or a risk score. My work has taken me from hospitals and community settings to courtrooms, jails, prisons, and private practice. Across all of those places, I've come to believe that we are shaped by our experiences, our relationships, and one another - and that understanding what lies beneath the surface can change what becomes possible.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based and experiential therapies while looking beyond symptoms to understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped who you are. Together we'll get curious about what's underneath, what may no longer be serving you, and what you want for yourself moving forward.

Therapy here is intentionally different - with space to slow down, exhale, and do meaningful work in a peaceful, restorative environment.

My hope for every person who walks through my door is simple: that you leave feeling more connected to yourself than when you arrived.  More at peace with your past. More present in your life. And more hopeful about what's ahead.

with warmth, Sarah

Frequently Asked Questions

New Leaf is a private-pay practice, which allows care to stay flexible, private, and centered entirely on you rather than on insurance requirements. If you have out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Individual therapy at New Leaf supports adults working through trauma and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, grief, healing from difficult relationships, and professional burnout. Sessions are trauma-informed and paced by you, drawing on evidence-based approaches that support the mind, body, and spirit.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories and experiences so they lose their emotional charge. It is especially effective for trauma, anxiety, and experiences that feel stuck.
Urban Peace Play is a creative, healing approach using sand, miniatures, and storytelling. It is an adaptation of Sandtray-Worldplay, developed through specialized training with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, a center for healing for individuals and communities impacted by trauma, grief, and loss. It offers a safe, nonverbal way to explore thoughts, feelings, and life experiences at your own pace.
Yes. Ketamine is a legal medicine when prescribed by a licensed medical provider. New Leaf provides the psychotherapy portion: preparation, supported sessions, and integration, all in collaboration with licensed prescribers. Every step is guided with compassion, intention, and clinical expertise. We never provide, prescribe, recommend, facilitate, or supply illegal substances.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy may help ease symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, and conditions that have not responded well to other treatments. It is not the right fit for everyone. A licensed medical provider screens every client first to make sure it is a safe and appropriate option for you.
The work unfolds in three phases. Preparation sessions help you set intentions and know exactly what to expect. Medicine sessions take place in a calm, comfortable setting with therapeutic support present the whole time. Integration sessions afterward help you make sense of the experience and turn insights into meaningful change in your daily life.
Yes. Ketamine is a prescription medicine and is only used under the care of a licensed medical prescriber. New Leaf partners with licensed prescribers who handle the medical screening and prescribing, while your therapist provides the preparation, in-session support, and integration.
Weekend intensives offer extended, focused therapeutic time, often combining EMDR, somatic and mind-body approaches, and nervous system support. They are held in a peaceful, private setting with time to rest, reflect, and integrate between sessions. It’s a concentrated experience designed for meaningful, lasting change.
Group offerings change through the year and currently include a 10-week Professional Burnout Support Group for therapists, healthcare providers, educators, and other helping professionals. Groups are small, supportive, and confidential. Reach out to hear what is currently forming.

Yes, that is the heart of New Leaf. The space includes meditation and reflection areas, a sauna, a hot tub, and an outdoor shower, and you are welcome to stay after your session to rest and let the work settle before returning to your day.

For clients who choose to use them, these spaces offer an opportunity to slow down, reflect and transition gently before or after therapeutic work. Use of wellness amenities is subject to separate safety guidelines and may not be appropriate following certain types of treatment or under certain circumstances.

New Leaf provides substance use evaluations for court requirements, employment purposes, treatment recommendations, and personal growth, as well as mitigation evaluations for federal courts. Evaluations are confidential, respectful, and nonjudgmental.

New Leaf provides specialized support for people reentering society after serving long-term sentences that began when they were children or emerging adults. It focuses on healing from trauma, rebuilding identity, navigating the challenges of reentry, and creating a future rooted in purpose, community and redemption.
